Pride month in South Africa in 2025

it's always so refreshing to experience a time (even if for just one month) when inclusivity is prioritized, where human beings can be encouraged to speak their truth without fear of being judged. Pride month in South Africa and especially in Johannesburg, also happens to be Youth Month , a month when we remember the brave children of Soweto who in 1976 were willing to put their lives on the line to confront their oppressors who imposed a language as a medium of instruction in an attempt to minimize progress within the black community.

On this month we salute these brave young lives and while we are not where we were in 1976 during the Soweto uprising , we do still hope and believe that huge change can come from the actions of the youth. A resilience and strong fight in defense of the marginalized community of queer people that live with in our society and also to create a more hospitable environment and atmosphere for queer travelers from all parts of the world. With South Africa having been the 1st country in Africa to defend the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and the 5th country in the world to legalize same sex marriage , we remain hopeful that the world can join us in promoting Queer friendly tourism in our fine shore. this years' pride month has been nothing short of amazing all around the world and it's especially beautiful to witness more publicly recognized faces coming out and also supporting their loved ones as they stand in their truth. The world is becoming more and more harsh in every other pillar of life but this is no reason to stand in fear at the back of the room but rather a time to rise , unite and demand better of civilization , demand better of our peers , demand better of our societies and communities because spreading love is the only way to stand proud in our truth fearlessly.
